Kenya 1 Washington Muhanji Inspires Iron Ladies Ahead of NSL Debut — “Be Brave, Be Ready”

In a rare and inspiring visit, Harambee Stars legend and FIFA coaching instructor Washington “Kenya 1” Muhanji joined the Iron Ladies Soccer Club at their final training session ahead of the club’s National Super League (NSL) debut this Sunday, 12 October 2025. The veteran goalkeeper led an intensive keepers’ clinic and ran a motivating session with the whole squad, leaving players and staff fired up for the challenge ahead.

The session — attended by Club President and Team Manager Jeff Mudembei and Head Coach Lemmy Easter — featured a mix of technical work, game-situation drills and a focused mental-preparation segment. Muhanji spent the first hour concentrating on goalkeeping fundamentals: positioning, reaction saves, distribution under pressure and commanding the box. He then joined Coach Lemmy on the pitch for a high-tempo team session that emphasised transition speed, defensive shape and clinical finishing.

“I wanted to bring a little of what international football taught me — the belief, the mindset, and the details,” Muhanji told the team. “Keepers win you points, but a focused team wins you games. Be brave, be decisive, and trust each other out there.”

His message resonated strongly with the squad. Several players noted how practical tips on communication between goalkeeper and backline, plus Muhanji’s live demonstrations on split-second decision-making, immediately lifted the team’s confidence.

Club President and Team Manager Jeff Mudembei praised the visit as a timely boost:

“Washington’s presence is a huge honour for the club. He didn’t just teach technique — he gave our players belief. That kind of experience is priceless as we step into the NSL.”

Head Coach Lemmy Easter said the session reinforced the tactical work the team has been doing in camp:

“We’ve prepared physically and tactically, and today added a layer of experience and mental sharpness. Washington’s insights into game pressure and composure will help our players remain calm when it matters most.”

Players walked off the pitch visibly energized. The goalkeeper unit reported immediate improvements in footwork and command of the penalty area, while outfield players commented on sharper defensive transitions and clearer communication patterns.

The Iron Ladies now head into their NSL debut with renewed focus and unity. The club reiterated its gratitude to Washington Muhanji for taking time to invest in the team and for leaving them “motivated and ready for the task ahead.”

Supporters are encouraged to come out and back the Iron Ladies in their NSL debut on Sunday, 12 October 2025. This highly anticipated match marks a significant milestone for the team and offers fans the perfect opportunity to show their unwavering support. Families, friends, and passionate supporters from all over are expected to fill the stands, creating an electric atmosphere that will surely motivate the players on the pitch.
