ROAD TO NSL, A JOURNEY OF RESILIENCE AND GLORY

The Iron Ladies Soccer Club was founded in 2020 by the Patron/ Team Manager Mr. Jeff Mudembei, who, at the time, held the position of Vice Chairman of the FKF Kakamega branch. His vision for the club was to create an inclusive environment that supports and nurtures female talent in the sport, ensuring they have opportunities to showcase their skills. Under his leadership, the club has grown significantly, becoming a cornerstone of women’s soccer in the region. As of now, Mr. Mudembei proudly serves as the FKF Kakamega Branch Chairman, further emphasizing his commitment to developing not just the club, but the sport as a whole within the community, inspiring young girls to pursue their dreams in soccer and fostering a culture of empowerment and teamwork.

From 2020, The Iron Ladies Soccer Club has been participating in various competitions and championships, facing diverse challenges that have tested their skills and resilience on the field. As the team grew in experience, they not only improved their performance but also forged strong bonds among players, coaches, and supporters. The dedication and perseverance displayed by the Iron Ladies have not only led them to victories but have also inspired young ladies in their community to pursue their soccer dreams with determination and passion.

After winning the Lugari CDF in 2023, the Iron Ladies were focused for greater heights as they pursued their vision in the women regional league, inspiring many young athletes along the way. Their commitment to training and teamwork set a strong foundation for what was to come, as each player pushed herself to elevate her game. In December, they got a major victory in Kakamega County by winning the prestigious Governors Cup, a highly sought-after title that drew attention from across the region. This monumental achievement not only bolstered the team’s confidence but also galvanized their fan base, bringing the community together to support their local heroes. This triumph served as a turning point to greatness, as it unveiled the potential within the team and solidified their reputation as serious contenders in women’s football.

In 2024, The Iron Ladies Soccer Club experienced a remarkable achievement as they were promoted to the FKF Women Div I Season 2024/2025. This new chapter in their journey brought on challenging and seasoned opponents, each match presenting a unique set of obstacles that tested their mettle and teamwork. However, through sheer determination, skill, and unwavering support from their fans, The Iron Ladies triumphed as the Zone D champions. This significant victory not only highlighted their hard work but also secured their qualification to participate in the highly competitive National Div I mini tournament, where they would compete for the prestigious title of overall Div I Champion, aiming to showcase their talents on a larger stage and further elevate the club’s legacy.

This year on 25th May 2025, they were crowned Overall National Women Div I Champions after an impressive season filled with hard work and dedication.
