Meet Our New Signings

The mid-season transfer window for the FKF Division One League was officially opened in late January 2025, as per a communiqué from the FKF Competitions Department. The Iron Ladies seized this opportunity to meticulously assess potential talent, aiming to strengthen our squad significantly as we continue with the second leg of the 2023/24 season. This strategic move reflects our commitment to building a competitive team capable of facing the challenges ahead, ensuring we have the right mix of experience and youthful energy to enhance our prospects for success in upcoming matches. As we navigate through the challenges of the season, the additions to our lineup are expected to bring fresh enthusiasm and skill, further uniting our team’s resolve to achieve our goals.

Goalkeeper

Esther Masibo

Just like our other keepers, she is perhaps one of the most important iron ladies on the field because she will serve as the last line of defense for The Iron Ladies squad. She is smart, has good reflexes, and has the ability to make good quick decisions that can change the outcome of the game in an instant. While as a keeper, her main objective is to prevent the other team from scoring goals, she will also serve as the first line of attack for The Iron Ladies by distributing the ball after it has been saved, launching counterattacks that can catch the opponents off guard.
Unlike the other players, she will be in a very physical position, which requires not only skill but also immense courage and resilience. To prevent a goal, she will use everything she has: body, head, legs, feet, and hands, exhibiting a fearless determination that embodies the team’s spirit. Her role demands a unique blend of athleticism and strategy, as she has to read the game effectively, positioning herself optimally to anticipate the opponent’s moves, while also communicating with her teammates to ensure cohesive play. In moments of pressure, every save she makes contributes not just to the defense but to building the team’s confidence and morale, proving that she is truly a linchpin for The Iron Ladies.

Full-Back

Ruth Musimbi

With her ability to play in any wing defensive position and also a strong presence on the wings, she brings versatility and adaptability to the game. Her main playing position will be the defense of the Iron Ladies, where she consistently positions herself in the right spot at the right time, effectively anticipating the opposing team’s movements. She possesses a remarkable amount of athleticism and stamina, allowing her to cover vast areas of the pitch with ease and efficiency. Her main job is to defend against the opposing team’s attacks, effectively disrupting their plays and regaining possession for her team. Just like all our Backs, she has really quick feet and plays with notable physicality, often outmaneuvering opponents in one-on-one situations. She will also be actively involved in offensive plays; as a right-back, she will join the attacking front if her team is pushing forward on the right side of the field, contributing to the overall attacking strategy, while as a left-back, she will similarly support the attack when it’s on the left side of the field. This dual ability to defend and transition into an offensive role makes her an invaluable asset to the team, as she not only fortifies the defense but also enhances the team’s attacking options from the back line.

Midfielder

Eunice Mmboga

With her ability to play in any midfield position, she also has a strong skill set in the central midfield role as well as on the wings, which allows her to be a versatile asset to the team. Her main playing position is centrally located in midfield, where she excels at orchestrating plays and supporting both defense and attack. She has an uncanny knack for positioning herself in the right spot at the right time, which often leads to crucial interceptions or assists. Her athleticism and stamina are commendable; she can maintain a high level of energy throughout the match, covering ground and contributing both offensively and defensively. Just like all our midfielders, she showcases incredibly quick feet, enabling her to maneuver past defenders while maintaining control of the ball, and she plays with a level of physicality that often challenges her opponents. Her overall understanding of the game and ability to read the flow of play further enhances her contribution to the team’s dynamics, making her an indispensable member of the squad.

She is also involved on offensive strategies, actively participating in various initiatives and campaigns aimed at achieving success on the field, collaborating closely with her team mates to develop innovative tactics that not only enhance performance but also foster a spirit of team work and competitive play among her peers.

Central Midfielders/ Strikers

Shaylyn Ludvian
Jentrix Lusomo

As the Iron Ladies’ central midfielders, they play a crucial role as the linchpin between defense and attack, carrying major responsibilities that affect both offense and defense. They diligently positions themselves in the heart of the field, always poised to make an impact. Offensively, as midfielders, they not only assists in controlling the pace and flow of the game but also act as strategic thinkers, finding gaps in the opponent’s defense and creating opportunities for their teammates. This responsibility entails not only dictating the speed of play but also initiating attacks by bringing the ball up from the backline and expertly distributing it to forwards. Moreover, their vision and tactical awareness allow them to read the game effectively, enabling them to make quick decisions that can change the outcome of a match, ensuring that their team maintains strong offensive pressure while also being ready to transition back into defense when necessary. Their multifaceted role showcases not only their technical skills but also their ability to influence the game on multiple fronts, making them an invaluable asset to the Iron Ladies.

Central midfielders potentially sprint more than any other player on the field, which is a testament to their pivotal role in both offensive and defensive strategies. They possess not only stamina and speed but also great passing skills, tactical awareness, good dribbling ability, and excellent footwork. This unique combination of attributes allows them to dictate the pace of the game and connect play between defense and attack effectively. Defensively, our central midfielders do a variety of things depending on the defensive formation, including dropping back to help protect the goal by covering gaps and marking opposing attackers. At other times, they are called upon to push up and put pressure on the ball-carrier, effectively disrupting the opponent’s rhythm while also transitioning quickly into offensive roles to exploit potential counterattack opportunities. Their versatility ensures they remain crucial as linchpins in the team’s overall performance, influencing the match flow constantly.

As a striker, they pose the biggest threat to the opposing team’s keeper, often becoming the focal point of our offensive strategy. As our strikers they will position themselves deep in the opponent’s territory, right outside of the opposing team’s penalty box, exploiting any defensive gaps and creating opportunities for themselves and their teammates. Their primary role is not only to score goals but also to draw defenders away and open up space for midfielders to maneuver. Our strikers are often the best all-around shooters on our team, showcasing a range of skills from powerful long-range shots to precise finishes inside the box, all while working under immense pressure. Unlike other positions on our team, our strikers don’t hold defensive responsibilities, allowing them to conserve energy and focus entirely on attacking. Equipped with exceptional stamina and good dribbling ability, they can evade defenders and navigate through tight spaces, but most of all, they are skilled and efficient shooters who have an innate ability to find the back of the net, making them invaluable assets in critical match situations.
